Greetings Pursuit Soccer Club!
We had 3 teams in cup play this past weekend representing Pursuit in Presidents Cup Finals, Semi-Finals and Directors Cup Semi-Finals, and all teams represented the club well! To start off, Pursuit 92 Blue IS the 2008 Eastern District Presidents Cup CHAMPIONS, after their shootout victory this afternoon. The girls advance to the Presidents Cup STATE Championships as the #1 seed from Eastern District!!! The 94 White team kicked off in the Presidents Cup Semi-Final on Saturday, battling their 6th Division I opponent in their last 7 matches! The girls played very strong, and the game was level, however, a couple of opportunisitic chances by Wave 94 led to the girls falling 2-0 in the game, and ending their 9 game unbeaten streak! An outstanding run through Presidents Cup by the #11 seed out of 16 teams, and the 94 White team was the only S2 team left in the U-14 bracket!!!! Our 95 Blue team kicked off in the Directors Cup Semi Finals and struggled to find a rythm after giving up an early goal coming against the run of play. The girls pressed the match heavily, and then ran into some injuries and a stiff wind the second half, conceeding 2 more goals in the match and dropping the result 3-0. The ladies had a strong run in Directors Cup and are looking forward to a couple of weeks off before finishing up with the Memorial Day Tournament.
Congrats to these teams on an outstanding Cup run, and best of luck to 92 BLUE as they travel to STATE May 24/25!
The 97 BLUE team finished off their league schedule this past weekend and was battling for 2nd place in the table against Challenge in the final game. The girls came out SMOKIN and recorded a 4-1 victory over Challenge and secured the #2 spot in their bracket to close out the year. The girls went an impressive 7-1-1 in the 2nd round of league play, and have won 7 matches in a row to close out the season! This positions the ladies to move up to the next higher bracket when they kick off the 2008 Fall season!! AWESOME JOB 97 BLUE!
The 96 BLUE team closed out their National Cup schedule with a 3-0 loss in the final match of Cup play. The girls will finish 5th overall in Eastern District National Cup play, and have the honor of being 1 of only 2 girls teams at Pursuit to qualify for National Cup, and are the first Pursuit team to record a victory in the National Cup competition. The ladies have had a tremendous year, and are looking forward to a fun filled Memorial Day Tournament.
The 94 BLUE team closed out National Cup play this past weekend, and finished 6th place in Eastern District National Cup. The girls have had a strong season in which saw them move into the Classic Bracket of Division I, qualify for National Cup, and retain their position to open up the Fall 2008 season in the Division I Classic Flight.
All other games are complete, and all teams are preparing for the Pursuit Memorial Day Tournament! Plans are already underway for the 2008-09 season, and we are currently forming tournament plans for our teams, setting goals, and getting excited about what the 08-09 season can bring!
If you know of anyone interested in select soccer, or looking for something different, talk to them about Pursuit and let them know it certainly is the RIGHT choice in Select level soccer!!
ALL teams will train through MAY 22, and over the next 2 weeks we will be providing lots of opportunities for the girls to play games, scrimmage with others, and have some fun to honor their hard work over the past 9 months!
See you at training!
